On January 10th, 2024, states representatives Michele Grim and Lauren McNally introduced HB 376, also known as the Kidfluencer Protection Act.
This bill would put regulations in place for child influencers to insure they are paid for their labor, including: Requiring adult vloggers who feature minors in their content to set aside a certain amount of funds for child influencers to access once they turn 18, the holding of these funds in a trust account, and the ability for minors featured in online content to request the removal of any vlog that includes their image or likeness once they turn 18. The bill includes financial compensation for child creators, children of influencers who are featured in online content, and those featured in family vlogs.
In the press conference for this act, former child-actor Alyson Stoner was in attendance in support of this legislation.
