On January 25th, 2024, House Bill 0645 was introduced to the Maryland state legislature.

This proposed legislation is modeled after Illinois’s SB 1782 law but would include additional protections to ensure that child influencers may request the permanent deletion of the content they appear in, obligating the social media platform the content lives on to honor the request. This is similar to the legislation current being passed in Washington State, HB 1627.

The bill has passed its first reading in its original chamber and now moves on to its first reading in the opposite chamber.
